Hoofy babies and drawings.

Well today was the first day in several that it was dry enough for sealing and therefore face-upping. Christy did up her little hoofy girl, Emmie. :3 She's just darling, and sadly the lighting was directly above us, so it was impossible to show how sparkly her dark green eyes are. They're very pretty, and I hope to be able to capture them in light sometime.

The two of us took our hoofy babies outside to get some photos, and these are the ones that turned out. Both of us are still learning yet, how to pose them with the hooves, so nothing particularly exciting here, just yet. ;3

And I did take photos (cause working with a scanner is troublesome alot of the time) of the drawings I did yesterday. I wasn't particularly happy with them, but I'm just in a weird frame of mind I think.

I need to practice drawing Doran's horns more. :[ And, the first guy, is supposed to be Doran's father, Ramsey, who will eventually be a Leeke Mihael. I did use a photo for reference for the face. :]

And, the last think I drew yesterday was this, a new deviantart ID:

Dumb as a box of rocks.

I remembered (with help from Christy, as per usual) what my other STUPID, DENSE moment was. XD CSI was on, and I was thinking fondly of Law and Order (any of them really, except for NEW Law and Order Criminal Intent with Jeff Goldblum) and I said, in a sort of dreamy voice "They should totally make a CSI New York!" Which was dumb for two reasons. One, they already have, and two, the story lines they gave them are stupid to a ridiculous degree.

Second life assassin? REALLY? The Davinci Code T-shirts? REALLY?! The whole way the AIDS story arc went. The magic car? The wannabe Jackass who crashes through the stained glass window of the church? All of it is just.. Wow. Also on any given episode you can't (or I can't at least) follow where they are going with the episode at all. It's often like you flip channels every five minutes or so, but somehow it's all the same cops, but a whole new story line. It doesn't flow at ALL.

So yes, doubly stupid, because not only did they make it, but it's the worst of the three, with one of the best acting casts at their disposal.. SERIOUSLY?!

That's all! Just needed to share that. :B

(Christy theorizes that my forgetting is my brain trying to protect me, as it does when you suffer horrible trauma.)

Argyle Domo at San Jose

Yesterday evening after all our adventures, we went to San Jose for dinner. I brought my Argyle Domokun (thanks again Jonathon!) and my camera, and took some fun photos.

And earlier in the day Christy found this rocking duffel! I'm going to be making some custom padding to convert it to a doll carrier. 8D

And, because I never posted photos when I got them (even though I wanted to, I just forgot) here, are the shoes I got for a STEAL at Ross. They're I think last season's PunkRose shoes, sold at Hot Topic and the like for $50+ and I got them for $15.

*o* I'm off on Planet Weird.

I've been a bit of a space-case lately. x_x Like, REALLY spacey and dense. I'm not a stupid person really, just.. when I have to take benadryl daily, and my insomnia keeps me up, combined with anxiety and exhaustion, I have the IQ of a sponge.

So, yesterday we had an adventure, nothing drastic, just walked down to Lands Town Commons, which is a pleasant walk away. We were a bit tired from the previous day, when we walked to Lynnhaven mall for my Job Interview (in the rain), but overall, feeling well enough, if a bit stiff and sore from the chilled air and humidity.

We had a wonderful lunch, at Finn McCools, where I had the best food I'd eaten years. It was a simple enough meal, very Irish, which pleased me. I had their Chicken Pot Pie, which was just, seriously the best meal I've had in years. Next time I'll try their Shephard's pie, because it was a tossup as to which I wanted to try, and I figure if the chicken pot pie was that good, the Shepard's pie must be spectacular! But I didn't mean to ramble about how much I love food. e_e;

After lunch we walked around a bit, and got Batman: Arkham Asylum, and a new DS screen protector for my DS. I had a fleeting thought after we left, that it would have been really cool to buy that game while wearing my batman shirt. I glanced down to see what I WAS wearing, and stated in amazement "I'm wearing my Batman shirt!" ..Christy looked at me like I'd sprouted a third head. She was struck by how amazed I sounded, and teased that I seemed surprised, as if someone had snuck up on me and changed my shirt. I was spacey like that most of yesterday, and have been that way today as well.

I can't recall the second obvious occurance that was today, and spurred writing this post, but Christy gave me that same sort of "Seriously?!" look, and told me she was going to pinch me. XD;;

I've just been a space-cadet, and having trouble making the simplest of decisions (like what I wanted to eat today). It emphasises to me, how patient she is as my friend, since she's not really giving me a hard time about being stuck in outerspace, on planet weird.

In unrelated (or maybe partially related) news, I had the thought that I maybe wanted to sew today, but I don't think I'd be able to sufficiantly focus on any one task. So, I'll probably play the Sims some, if I don't wander off while it's loading. e_e;;

Ro is four years old today.

Wow.. I just realized today is August 29th. Four years ago today, I was sitting on the steps outside of the apartment I lived in with my father and younger sister, waiting for an EMS package from Korea. Nick was in Great Lakes, at Basic Training for the Navy. I had a small pile of clothes, eyes, and wigs waiting for him, a rocking chair, some other odds and ends. I opened that box and loved him from the moment I saw him. He was perfect. He was MINE. He was my first doll, I ever wanted, that I got, and enjoyed.

Alot has happened in four years. I have 10 dolls now, most of which I got in late 2006 and 2007. Ro went from being my only, my favorite, to the one I can't play with. There's been alot of drama in regards to him. When I saw him next to other dolls after I moved to Virginia, I realized I wanted him on a more grown up body, and sold off his Dream of Doll body. I bought him a Dollmore boy body, which I had to restring first thing, and never posed well for me. He's still on it.

Brittany/Ti-Chan just about killed him as a character, completely hi-jacking his life, whether or not that was her intention. He went from being my smirky, smiley, boy version of me, to a whiny clingy man who did everything he could to please his partner, and adopted some kids (my Yo-SDs).

Now he's tucked away in my boxes, with Elli, waiting for me to get the courage to try and paint him again. To give him new life. To sell off that Dollmore body which is too thin and lanky for him, and get him a Dream of Doll body again. He's got awhile yet to wait, because I have to pay off some debts first, but one day.. One day my Tender Yen will be whole again, and loved again. I won't be afraid to play with him anymore.

Ro was my first, and I will never sell him. I will always love him, and even if his character moves to a new shell, I'll keep my very first boy doll.

Ball-jointed dolls bring me a joy I can't describe, and having Ro brought me happiness when I was at my worst. Looking at dolls kept me sane in South Texas when I lived with in-laws who hated me. Buying Ro kept me happy when I was worried and displaced in North Texas. All my dolls kept me sane (when in combination with my two best friends in the entire world) this past year, nearly two years at this point, when my whole life fell to pieces.

I'm happy that I have these dolls in my life, that I met my friends through this hobby.

Interview at FYE.

So, yesterday afternoon, Christy and I were getting ready to run over to the store, when my phone rang. ..Well twinkled. I don't have a ringtone that sounds like a real telephone. :B It plays Super Mario Bros. But, that's not my point. XD;; I saw the areacode was 757 (local) so I answered it even though I didn't recognize the number, and it was a call from FYE (music etc store), asking if I'd like to come in for an interview, and would Monday at 1:30pm be okay?

So, I have an interview at FYE at the mall, for Monday. :] I'm quite relieved, since at this point my silence online has been because I don't want to worry and fret 'aloud'. I've been trying to stay upbeat, but it's incredibly frustrating knowing there is nothing more I can DO but wait for people to have openings. e_e;;

So, I've been sewing, or playing Harvest Moon DS (my love interest Nami is at a green heart!), or other such things, anything to keep my mind occupied. I'm hoping for a very easy interview and that they want to hire me right off. I'm not going to hold my breath, but I will do everything in my power to have a strong, impressive interview, with a great first impression. A bit redundant, but I don't like my other wording options. :P

But yes, I hope everyone else is doing well, and I look forward to posting good news in the next week or so, depending on what I hear on Monday.

SLEEP FAIL.

So last night I had some pretty killer insomnia. I finally got to bed around 4:30am, probably fell asleep closer to 5:30am. I ended up waking up when the phone rang first thing this morning about a quarter after eight, and was hyper aware of everything going on around me so I couldn't fall back asleep. So, I gave in about an hour later, since I couldn't get out of my semi-conscious state, into either sleep or being fully awake and aware.

I stayed up for about two hours, and finally gave in to Christy's prompting to go back to sleep, when I realized I responding to everything with "I uh wanna" or the translation of "I don't want to". :P I didn't want to turn on my computer, I didn't want to watch TV, I didn't want to sew. I was probably being rather cranky but honestly I wasn't very aware of myself at that point. My "I don't want to" was coming out in a very slurred "Uhhwuhna" to pretty much every question put to me. e_e;;

I went back to sleep about 11am, and woke up at 3:20pm feeling much more lively and friendly.

I've not done a heck of alot today. Went to the store with Christy and Little Man, and worked about on my pattern for Little Junior/Narsha boxer briefs. I have panty patterns done for most of the doll sizes, but I need to go ahead and get my male underpants patterns sorted out, since I figure that'll be my easy sell on Den of Angels.

But yeah. That's been my day. :P I am trying to get underpants done in all sizes, so I can get pics taken for my commisions thread for Den of Angels. It may take a couple of weeks since I get one pattern perfected per day. :P I know how I need to tweak the current pattern, and it'll be easy enough, and then I can move on to proper MSD underpants, and then to EID, and SD/SD13.

Anyway, I'm sorry I've been so quiet lately! e_e;;

Striped romper!

Well, yesterday I made a romper for Doran. I was basing it off of some cute toddler clothes I downloaded for my Sims. :B It's got a polo style collar, and snaps at the bottom, like a onesie. My next project will be an actual onesie type pattern.

I wasn't necessarily expecting Doran to be this YOUNG, but the more I play with him, the more he seems like a toddler, and less like a tiny little fae adult, or adolescent. I'll try and get my onesie patterns sorted out, and have prototypes up to see in the next day or two. I don't think I want to do many of these polo openings as they are a pain and a half to do.

Doran's face is done!

Well, today, Christy and I finished up Doran's faceup. :D I did his eyebrows and lashes, and she did the blushing for me. Due to the shape of his face, the little blue star I wanted, didn't suit, so I'll save that for a different doll in the future. Anyway, these are the pics I managed. I'll take some better ones in the next few days in daylight. :3

Now I'm just waiting for his 'grown up' horns, and to blush his leg fluff and hooves. I'm thinking I'll paint the hooves and horns charcoal grey, and do faun-colored fluff on his legs, to match his wig. I'm pretty thrilled.

Doran's Home!

Well, my Doran arrived today! I was a little concerned that he wouldn't show up, because I realized this afternoon that I had the zipcode written down wrong. Luckily, he arrived safely. :D

His face is shaped a little differently than I was expecting, so the faceup I had in mind won't work properly. So, now I'm doodling in Painter, to try and come up with some new ideas. :B

About Me

My photo
I'm Rory or Rorek in most places. I design, sew, and craft, primarily for my Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls. I also dabble in interior design, but I'm a little out of practice.

I post about the things I enjoy, which are sewing, photographing my dolls, designing new outfits, knitting, which I started in September of 2008, thanks to my Mom, and occasionally drawing, or painting.

I also post about Life Events and how they affect me and those that I love.

Currently I am living in DFW, Texas in the USA and working towards a degree in Theology.
