:O Doran's Coming Home!

Well then. I woke up to my Mom calling me asking for some reassurance as she placed and order for her first doll. Well, first non-gift doll. She's ordering her Dream of Doll(Baby) Arie girl. So, I talked to her a little bit, and then she thanked me and went on her way, to place the order I presume.

So, then I go take a shower, and try to wake up etc. and right as I'm settling in, booting up my computer, I'm kind of whinging about how everyone on my friends-list, aside from Christy, who's ordered Glot or Glati (or both), has at the very least, a shipping number. And then my e-mail loads with a message from Soom with my tracking number.

I seriously had no idea what to say or anything. I just kind of sat there slack-jawed for a moment, and then told Christy, "You know how I was whining just now? Well... I have a tracking number" in about the most calm/awed voice ever.

And of course now the initial shock is gone and I'm ECSTATIC. And I need to finish sewing some shirts for the little guy. @_@ And of course today is the day I'm supposed to hear back from Best Buy (at the earliest), so it's great time, to keep me occupied between waiting for the phone call, and pointlessly refreshing my tracking number. :B

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

2nd Interview

Well I had my second interview this afternoon. It was a very VERY hot walk, but the walk wasn't as bad as it could have been, because Christy and Little Man walked me there and back, to help me with my nerves.

My interview was scheduled for 4pm, but I didn't see the guy til nearly 4:30 because he got stuck in a meeting. I was completely unable to gauge his reaction to me, so I don't know whether I made a good impression or not. He did tell me that there are other people who need to be interviewed, and that there will be an office meeting to discuss the interviewed people on Thursday, so the earliest I'm likely to hear back, would be Friday.

Which, is a bit of a relief, since part of the employment process is a drug test, and I don't know where the clinic is, or how I would get there, pre-payday. :P Catching a bus would be the best option if it's possible.

But anyway, I won't know anything till Friday at the earliest.

Structured Productivity

Well, I have a second interview, set for tomorrow, 4pm. :] The guy who interviewed me today seemed pretty impressed with me, which restored my confidence to some degree. :] I sent out a mass text to several friends and family letting them know, and received this one from Neko:

"I know the income will be nice, but i think the structured productivity will be good for you too. <3" To which Christy responded with giggling and telling me something along the lines of how it would prepare me for kindergarten. :B

Anyway I'm feeling positive and trying to be enthusiastic without getting my hopes up too much.

A challenger appears!

Well well! I have my first Virginia job interview. Tomorrow afternoon at 3pm I'll be interviewing at Best Buy, which is within relatively easy walking distance. And, if this one falls through, there are several other places in that shopping center that would be lovely to work at. :]

Wish me luck! I'm very nervous, and a bit excited, though I know it's nothing definite.

Cuppy cakes!

Christy baked my birthday cupcakes today! They're confetti cupcakes with cream cheese icing and red and pink sugar crystals. I did the icing and decorating myself. :B

Hooray for delicious cupcakes! Wheeeee!

Kilt and Sporran!

I finished up Doran's kilt today, aside from fasteners. I also made a sporran from black faux leather, and white faux fur. It hangs from a silver chain. I still kind of want to make a belt with an appropriate buckle, but it can wait a bit. I will be making a sweater next, and a tank top, so that Doran has a top to wear, whether it's warm or cold. I'm also debating making anklewarmers, that would end just above the hooves, rather than kilt hose. I know I said so last post but still..

Anyway, photos! Chris is obligingly modeling for me. :D

And, I even had a tiny safety pin appropriately scaled for a kilt pin. Huzzah!

Also Christy baked my birthday cupcakes today, so once we've frosted them, I shall post pics of them! Yay cupcakes!

Doran's Kilt

So I got a bit of fabric somewhat similar to my ancestral tartan. I wasn't able to find a match in a small enough pattern. But, this is somewhat similar to the Elliot clan tartan, I mean, the inverse, which was the ancient tartan, according to the sources I could find. :] Though I should doublecheck and see if there is a clan difference between the Elliots and the Elliotts*. Anyway, the tartan I found online is dark red, blue, and a bit of tan, and Christy found a small plaid (really woven, not just printed on cotton) that has the right shade of red, with some tan, and blue. It's not a perfect match but it's about the best I'm likely to find unless I weave a kilt myself. :P

Anyhow I have the kilt pleated and hemmed. I'm trying to decide how I want to do the waistband. And I've been looking and sporrans, and have decided to make one for Doran. I already have some faux leather in black, so it's no big deal, I'd say. I just wish I had some velvety fur, so I could go for a fur-looking one. I'm currently debating if I want to make tiny leg warmers to look like kilt hose, where Doran's hooves will stick out, rather than them disappearing into boots. I may not make that decision until he's physically here, anyway.

But as I was saying, I've got the kilt all pleated, and it's nearly finished. I'm also looking at tiny belt buckles on tinyzippers.com, trying to decide if I want to MAKE a tiny belt, or if I want to try and find one that will fit around the kilt. :]

So, that's what I've been up to this evening. Nothing spectacular, but it makes me feel fulfilled. :P

So anyway, I cut 20 inches of fabric from the plaid, at 4.5 inches, going by this pattern, because the 19 inches I cut for the first kilt I made, seemed not to be enough. 20 inches seems too long, and 4.5 inches seems to be too much length for a traditional "wee" kilt. I suppose it helps that I have a pattern to use for my pleats, rather than measuring a solid fabric. I did knife pleats, on the stripe, and have folded it more along the lines of this pattern. I figure I'll have to tweak this pattern for each doll, depending on what plaid I use. Though, I don't know if any of my other dolls will wear kilts at all. e_e;

Here's the kilt, folded and pinned, just waiting to be finished. :B

*Okay I checked and apparently the Elliot, and Elliott clans are the same clan, so I did have the right tartan.

Jessie is a darling little girl.

So, I promised to take some photos of Jessie with her shiny new face up, and I went ahead and took some photos today. Christy painted her for me, and I'm very pleased with her tiny little face. :] I also threw in a couple of pics of Chris in the footy pajamas I've made him.

And for what it's worth I'll be posting up a commissions post in the next day or so, so keep an eye out. :]

Kamau is GORGEOUS. WOW.

I'm sorry for being so silent lately. I've had a somewhat regular internet signal lately but I just haven't done much aside from reading other people's entries. I did take photos of Christy's Kamau, when he arrived on the 15th(?). He shipped on my birthday, and the day ended up being lucky all day. In fact pretty much all last week was great. :]

Anyway here are the photos. They're a little blurry because of how excited we were, and my hands were shaking a bit. :] Kamau is GORGEOUS and HUGE.

Look at the size of that box!

Christy is not a short woman and it makes her look TEENY. She's like 5'7", I believe.

Look at the size of those hands! They're only slightly smaller than Little Man's hands!

Look how HUGE the hand is compared to a Yo-SD! :O

She was straining to lift him at this point. You can see her arm muscles flexing for all they're worth to lift that huge heavy man.

This pic is only editted because Christy was making a >:O sort of face at the size of him. XD

Look how tiny he makes Christian look! Christian is an SD-13, and rather stocky as SD boys go.

That would be a Dollshe foot that looks so tiny next to that big old EID foot. :]

Just, WOW. Elder Iplehouse boys are ENORMOUS. Gorgeous, but HUGE. I totally want two of them. LOL.

And I know I've been promising photos of Jessie but I haven't gotten to take pictures yet due to being all over the place during the day. I will try to get photos tomorrow after our adventures. :]

I'm not dead! Really!

Well I've been settling in, here in Virginia Beach. Obviously I've not been online pretty much since I got here. My apologies to anyone who was trying to contact me via e-mail.

Mostly I've been sewing, and playing videogames with Christy, Michael, and Jared. :] I've sewn a lovely little outfit for Chris, and am working on making stuff for Ichigo now. Here are the photos I took of the outfit I made for Chris.

Sorry I've not been online. I've also had minor issues with my phone but it seems to be working again. If you need to reach me, the best way right now is by phone. Most of you already have my number.

I have been taking photos on and off but since my laptop is still screwy, they will be slow to be posted. :P If I've missed anything important please fill me in, as I'd prefer not to go back several hundred entries trying to catch up, on dial-up. @_@

I will likely continue to stay offline for now, so if you need to talk to me, comment and I'll get back to you ASAP.

About Me

My photo
I'm Rory or Rorek in most places. I design, sew, and craft, primarily for my Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls. I also dabble in interior design, but I'm a little out of practice.

I post about the things I enjoy, which are sewing, photographing my dolls, designing new outfits, knitting, which I started in September of 2008, thanks to my Mom, and occasionally drawing, or painting.

I also post about Life Events and how they affect me and those that I love.

Currently I am living in DFW, Texas in the USA and working towards a degree in Theology.
