Virginia Beach!

So I am safely in Virginia Beach! There were airport shenanigans but obviously we got it sorted out.

I got lost in the DFW airport, confusing my seat number for my gate number, and ended up missing my flight. Luckily US Airways was very accommodating and got me on a direct flight to Norfolk, that arrived about the same time, for no charge.

I was very relieved, and since it left like 2 1/2 hours later, I had time to get where my new flight was leaving from, and relax for a bit.

I ended up chatting nicely with the woman seated next to me on the plane, and when we landed I was greeted with a very happy Christy, Michael, and Jared. :D It was awesome!

Everything went pretty smoothly from there. We retrieved my luggage and went home. I am safe, and settling in nicely.

Ossian Drawing

I drew again in church today. I really wanted to draw Seanan, as this photo I took of him really opened up his character for me, but I couldn't get his face right.

Photobucket

I could picture him, looking around five years old, babyfaced, hair mostly straight but curling at the nape of his neck, playing with a ball in the driveway with Declan. I tried to draw it, but instead Ossian came out.

Photobucket

Ossian is between Declan and Seanan, in age. Breck should have been the same age as Declan, but since I'll never be able to get a Meoloo for him, I've changed who he is, and how he relates to the family. So, instead of being fourthborn, Ossian is thirdborn. :] He will be a sleepy Narsha, seen below.

Photobucket

As for Breck, I think I want to make him Leslie's (the father of the Hanlon clan, and an Iplehouse Louis)younger brother. I've decided Breck will be an Iplehouse Ryan. It was seeing this photo that decided it for me.

Photobucket

Not only does Ryan look like a grown up Meoloo, but seeing him as a redhead, with that faceup really cemented his character for me. :] I'm still tweaking the Hanlon family story, because Breck obviously can't be a twin with Declan if he's an older buff boy. He'll dwarf that Little Junior body Declan's got, and I didn't want to change the story about the babies, so while I know he's still part of the family, I'm not sure exactly where he fits in now. :P

Good Times

So, having never seriously injured anything like this before, I didn't know that I'm supposed to keep my foot wrapped when I'm icing it. Or that I'm supposed to be icing it about every other hour at least. Or, that really the only time it shouldn't be iced, elevated and wrapped, is when I'm showering.

Healing, you're doing it wrong. :P

My foot is a bruised puffy mess. I have blood pooled bruising at my heel, and at my toes. I've been properly elevating, wrapping, and icing my foot since this morning when Jenni told me what I was supposed to be doing. A day and a half late but seriously I had no idea. @_@

This sucks. I woke up in my middle of the night with my foot swollen painfully and re-wrapped it, without realizing if I do that every time, it will just swell bigger. :P At least I've been able to take ibuprofen since Jenni came back. She took the small amount we had with her, when she and Ash went to church camp.

I spent most of this morning and early afternoon, sitting on the sofa with my leg up and iced, playing Wii. First Guitar Hero, and then Wii sports. :P I played baseball since I can do that sitting down more easily than any of the other sports. It was fun. Now I want to play Sims but I'm not sure how well that will go. e_e

Tomorrow is the family get together, which should be nice. It was supposed to be a picnic/dinner thing, but I suspect it will end up a hanging out thing with Wii, or Cranium or something. Ah well, at least I'll get to see everyone, one last time before I go.

Niiiiiiice

So this morning was nice. I woke up, the house was nice and cool because of the thunderstorm, it was still raining a bit, which I love. I made a delicious breakfast. Then I decided to watch some TV. All was well in the world right? Do you sense a but? You're right.

So I get up off the couch when I'm done goofing around, to put the remote controls back where they go. And my left leg is tingling as it tends to do, since I like to sit with my legs tucked up under me. So I stand still, so as to let the blood flow return to normal, which generally works better than trying to walk on it. And, while I'm standing COMPLETELY STILL, my ankle collapses under me with a loud CRUNCH. I fall. I yelp. I start to stand up, and fall down again, crying out now, sound a bit like a panicked dog. A WOO A WOO!

After a few minutes of writhing on the floor yelping, I manage to crawl to the kitchen and get some ice in a baggy. I limp to my room put my leg up, and put the ice on it. At this point I can see a huge welt, my foot is swelling badly and it's turned purple.

This is what it looks like now, after about 3 solid hours with ice on it. I did go look for an ace bandage but we don't have one in the house. Also no ibuprofen that I could find, so I can't take anything to help bring the swelling down. :B

I tried calling 3 different people to try and get a ride to Walmart (cause like hell am I walking to Walmart on a probably sprained ankle in the rain) to buy an ace bandage and ibuprofen but no luck. So I've texted my brother-in-law Derek, asking him to bring an ace bandage home on his way from from work. :P

Please don't die yet! I can't afford to replace you! ;_;

My laptop is attempting suicide. Yesterday the screen part tried to snap off. I wasn't doing anything, just sitting there with it in my lap, and CRACK. I caught it before it broke completely. The screen is still connected but it can't hold itself up anymore. In addition it's been overheating and turning itself off, on a more and more frequent basis. The quick fix, which will not FIX the problem, but could extend the life for a bit, is to buy a moniter, and a new cooling pad.

The actual machine, the parts, work fine. It's just the overheating, and the pieces trying to break off. x_x I looked at Walmart.com at the laptops there, but if I buy a new one, I need it to be powerful enough to play my games (like Sims 3 which I want to try), and while I could buy a cheap little book at $300, if I want one that will perform at least as well as what I have now proportionally, I need to be willing to pay at least $600, preferably $700-$800.

I don't want a temporary thing. I want a computer that will last me a long time. This laptop is maybe 4 years old, which is less than I would have liked it to last. But, I've used it more intensely in the last 2 years, taking it places with me, accidently dropping it in the airport etc. I want my new machine to last at least as long, and to be able to perform well while I have it.

This is pretty upsetting as I don't have the money for a new moniter right now, or a cooling pad, and I certainly don't have upwards of $500 to buy a new computer. :[ I know I wouldn't qualify for any sort of financing for a new machine either, and honestly I would prefer not to make payments for 2 years on a computer, and end up paying so much extra for it, with an exhorbant interest rate. BLEH.

So yeah my poor little computer is trying to kill itself. :[

Strawberry Sundae Vest

As promised, photos of Chris (with Ichigo) in her new vest. :]

The vests are pretty similar, but the new one, Chris' is tweaked, pattern-wise. I made the armholes larger, changed my approach to when I do the V, and added ribbing at the bottom for stabilization. :] I'm very happy with it!

Vests, vests, everywhere!

I've been busily cranking out sweatervests since I got the pattern sorted out. I've made a brown one for Ichigo that I eventually want to add sleeves to, a rainbow one for Jessie, and a blue one that ended up a bit short for Chris. I've also made another from that gorgeous pink brown and white yarn, for Chris, which is blocking right now. Pics below.

When the last vest is dry, I will take photos of Ichigo and Chris together wearing their matching vests.

And in yarn news, Amy, who let me dye that awesome yarn, gave it to me to keep at Tuesday's Knit Night. I was totally floored, and I love it. Thank you Amy! And last night Monica gave me some yarn too, in some quite lovely colors. I'm looking forward to playing with them. :] No pics of those bits until I've knit with them. ;D

About Me

My photo
I'm Rory or Rorek in most places. I design, sew, and craft, primarily for my Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls. I also dabble in interior design, but I'm a little out of practice.

I post about the things I enjoy, which are sewing, photographing my dolls, designing new outfits, knitting, which I started in September of 2008, thanks to my Mom, and occasionally drawing, or painting.

I also post about Life Events and how they affect me and those that I love.

Currently I am living in DFW, Texas in the USA and working towards a degree in Theology.
