Most of you are aware that I am moving to Texas this summer after I
finish at TCC for the spring semester. You are also likely aware that I
was fired from Lowe's for medical absences.
Lowe's tried to
contest my eligibility for unemployment and I had an appointment with
the Unemployment commission for a phone interview on April 1st.
I
received two letters today, the first saying that I was eligible to
collect unemployment starting from March 6th which was when I initially
applied. This would have meant that I would receive backpay for the
weeks I have been looking for work. The second letter stated that I was
ineligible because my school schedule is too restrictive and does not
allow for full time work. Nevermind that I was working and doing school
in tandem until Lowe's fired me.
I am now truly out of options, and have set up a new GoFundMe for medical, living and moving expenses short term. I
know that I will end up safely in Texas, as I have been discussing with
my mother how best to go about the move, and we have been making plans,
but I am in need of funds for my medicine, and to restore cell service.
I actually need about $500 immediately to fill scripts for very
necessary medication that I will be out of this time next week, and to
buy food. This doesn't even bring into account that I need money for
rent, and moving and cleaning supplies so that we can leave our
apartment in good order.
This will be for living and moving
expenses for the next two months or so, until my roommates and myself
are safely in Tennessee, and then I head off to Texas from there.
I
have exhausted every resource that is available to me here in Virginia.
Any help is appreciated. I know that money may be tight for several
people reading this, and I understand that. If you could signal boost
that is also helpful.
We need about $500 right away for medicine
and food. We will need more for moving supplies (boxes, cleaning stuff,
etc) and to turn my phone back on. Every bit helps and we are all very
thankful for any assistance.

I hoard doll shoes. I couldn't say how many I have for certain but everyone that can wear shoes has a pair except for Reji, so I have at least 31 pairs of shoes. I know that some dolls like Ichigo and Ro have more than one pair that are definitively theirs so I'd guess I probably have 40+ pairs of shoes in varying sizes. Several years ago, I popped off everyone's shoes and took a photo, and I have more dolls and shoes now, than I did at that time. Here is the photo of what I had then.

A moment, for trans-awareness.
I have refrained from talking about the transphobic law passed in North
Carolina, which is less than an hour's drive south from where I live. I
would have continued to refrain for some time I'm sure, had I not
stumbled over several subtly transphobic posts from people that I grew
up with. People who knew me as a child, and know that my name and sex
have been legally changed on a federal level. People who maybe should
think twice about posting that someone with the misfortune of being
transgendered is somehow a sexual deviant.
Let me set the record straight. I am incredibly thankful for my friends, and my family who love me, and support me as a person. I am not out to hate on anyone or pick on anyone. I just want to live my life quietly doing the things that I am passionate about, without fear of legal problems should I need to use a public restroom.
As long as time has passed and humanity has been able to track it, there have been those that would abuse the system, that would sneak into the opposite gender baths, private places, and places where people are separated by sex. There should of course be laws and regulations in place to help prevent peeping and other issues of that sort.
THAT SAID. If I or someone who happens to be trans is in a public restroom we have exactly one thing on our mind, it it is using the facilities. FULL STOP. We are human and we need to pee as much as anyone else. Sometimes more frequently because hormones change how those things work. If you are vain or ignorant enough to think my potty break is a chance for me to chat you up, you are loonytoons.
So, now that we have covered THAT. Stop being ignorant as a whole. If you are concerned, ask questions. If you want to be safe, please keep in mind that the people in most danger of being hurt in a public restroom are not children, or average adults, but those of us who just need to pee, but can't pass as male or female. Men in the ladies room! Women in the mens room! Neither of these is accurate and both of these are (understandably) met with outrage. We just need to pee. It's not about you.
I am fortunate enough that I do pass as male, which IS my legal sex at this point, and I no longer have to deal with this as much, but you better believe that it is still a terrifying experience to develop a fear of public toilets that has nothing to do with germs. I am still anxious every time I have to use a public restroom, and that is something that was never an issue until I was in my mid to late twenties.
Okay I really am done ranting now. I'm angry, and I'm scared, and I want to say, that I know that many of you are not this ignorant. If you are among those who are reading this thinking "Well of course" then this isn't directed at you, but thank you for reading. Thank you for knowing, for listening, for supporting.
Thank you to every single one of my friends who knows me for me, and loves me for me. I appreciate you, and you make life worth living.

Most of my friends I have met within the hobby so they are generally positive and supportive about them. Newer friends and acquaintances are sometimes weirded out, but more often impressed with the customization and variety of the dolls. Several of my non-doll friends have complimented my wardrobe choices and sewing, and others have said that I am crazy for learning to knit so that I can make doll clothes and accessories in a new way, but all in all my friends are either supportive or quiet.

This is still my very favorite photo of any animal with a doll. It's hands down, the best photo I've ever taken of Decke. He was still a kitten in this, or at least not fully grown. He was fond of cuddling up with the dolls. I never had to worry one bit about him running off with doll stuff or biting. Decke was an angel.

Day 9: What is your least favorite size?
Anything larger than 61cm is too much doll for me. Anything smaller than 14cm is too small. I think for least favorite I would have to go with the 65cm+ dolls. They are a literal pain for me to handle, ending in joint dislocation frequently from lifting and moving them, and yes I do have fragile joints but it should not be a matter of expecting injury if you want to play with a doll.
They are beautiful of course, but simply too big to be feasible for play. My bigger boys are, sit and play with them boys, rather than, tote along for meetups or take outdoor photos types.

My favorite size is MSD, hands down. I love how easy they are to handle, how little fabric it takes to make elaborate custom outfits, and how easy to carry they are, if you are inclined to take one out and about. I also love that it's fairly easy to find in scale props for them.

- I'm Rory or Rorek in most places. I design, sew, and craft, primarily for my Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls. I also dabble in interior design, but I'm a little out of practice.
