Hooray! I was productive!

I've been waiting to post about this, because I wanted to make something special first. So, today, I did.

I went out with Moose today, to put in applications in the area, because I'm not getting any hours at Hobby Lobby at the moment. And while I was out, I went by JoAnns to check back on my application there, and poke through the fabric, since I haven't really gotten to do that nice and leisurely since I've been in Texas. There were lots of fabrics I wanted, but as soon as I saw this, I KNEW it was perfect. So I bought a yard, and come home (after picking up some more applications) and got to work.

The smaller pillowcases were a flub actually, but they did come out very nicely, just too small to fit on the existing pillows. So, I kept them, and as soon as I find the polyfill (I think there is some in the house) I'll make two small pillows for those as well. I got half a yard of the sparkly blue material, to use as backing for blankets, but I couldn't find any material I liked for the blankets.

So, Friday, I will be going back to find the blanket material, and to pick up some cute material I saw today but didn't get.

Next, I'm sewing clothes for Ichigo and Chris, because I think they've both been somewhat neglected lately in their wardrobes.

Donated blood today.

So, I donated blood today. :] This is the smoothest it's gone, ever. No digging for the vein, no massive bruising, no dizziness. Just, sitting in the chair, squeezing the ball every few seconds, and I was done in maybe 10 minutes. I knew I was going to be donating today, so I tried to make sure to stay hydrated, yesterday and this morning.

I got a t-shirt on the way out too. :] I love those silly "I gave blood!" shirts. Often, they have interesting designs on them. Once, when I gave blood in south Texas, I got one with a picture of a cow inside a tornado. I dunno what that was about, but it was funny.

And, tonight we have the church Talent and Variety show. I was joking that they wanted us to give blood(it was a church organized blood drive) so that we'd all be too woozy to boo anyone off stage. Or perhaps, funnier performance due to stumbling around. We'll see how it goes.

Happy Valentines!

Today has been a quiet, but pleasant day. I woke up in the early afternoon, after staying up late chatting with Roxy on AIM. Then spent the afternoon playing Pokemon, for giggles, and then I took Mom to dinner. I think it was rather inspired because I could use the company, and she was in need of some friendly chatter, a good meal, and good company, with no complications.

So, we went to El Chico, had some queso, some tortilla soup, and debated a dessert, but decided against it. It was a nice meal, and Mom and I were laughing and smiling the whole time.

And, on the way home, I mentioned coveting some argyle socks I'd seen at Target yesterday, and we swung by so I could get them. :] So I now have a pair of black and purple argyle socks, and a pair in greys and blues as well. Now I just need to go back and get those pretty dress shirts, later in the month, to match. <3

All in all, it's been a very pleasant day, and I'm looking forward to a relaxing afternoon tomorrow as well. I hope everyone's had a pleasant day, like I have.

Doll meetup, March 14th

So, I'm planning a local doll meetup, at River Legacy Park, for March 14th. I've set up a thread on Den of Angels, and I'm hoping to get a good group together. I know I will be there, with Neko and Mom, and I think Jonathon will come as well. We'd love to meet the other locals, now that we know the girl we'd been trying to avoid is no longer in the area. If you're interested please comment here, or on the thread!

Mild retail therapy.

So, went, got my first paycheck from Hobby Lobby today. The check was about $80 less than I was expecting, but my taxes seem to be more-so, than they were before, so that explains it. I was going to be ordering Ro's new body today, but I'm just a bit short, so I've set aside what I have got, in my paypal, and I'll take the remainder, from the next check.

I did buy a couple of small things today. We went to Target, and I got a hat, and two pairs of shoelaces. Rose was wearing a similar hat today, so we kind of matched. Two photos, with, and without, the hat.

I'm very happy with how it looks. :] I was a tad surprised that they had one that fit me, since I've got a head in between most hat sizes. It was the last of its kind as well, which is the main reason I couldn't resist.

And these are the shoelaces I got. Brown argyle, and pink stars. X3

Then we went to the mall, specifically to Hot Topic, and I got these suspenders. I've not seen the awesome rainbow dinosaur suspenders I fell in love with before, and I don't want a repeat of that disappointment. These were on clearance, and after my %10 military discount, I paid a total of $5 for these, and a purple pair for Moose.

I won't be able to comfortably wear them until I'm much thinner, but I want to have them for that time. :]

And, aside from that, the day was okay. We ran some other errands, getting a duplicate copy of the Moose's birth certificate, and then trying to find the place to go to contest a redlight camera traffic ticket. The ones 'round here, tend to glitch and ticket for a right turn on red, which is perfectly legal. By the end of the day (4pm-ish) Moose was really pissy, and my patience was GONE. I try to be supportive and helpful, but after a point, I just want to shake her and tell her to stop it. She didn't even really smile at the suspenders I got her, and I was mainly getting them to cheer her up. *sighs*

Oh well. I'm gonna relax and call some of my friends now.

Rambling

There's some kind of flu or something, going around. I caught a stomach bug. Stayed home sick on Saturday cause I could barely get to the bathroom with the nausea. Still feeling ill today, but I was called this morning, and told me schedule was changed, so I'm in the clear. I wasn't going to call in sick again, but I'm relieved that I've got another day to recover before having to go back in.

Last night was awesome, despite feeling a bit off. We had some friends over from the Church. Derek grilled chicken and steaks, Jenni made a few side dishes (rice pilaf, and macaroni), and later for dessert, we made smoothies. In between all this, we played Guitar Hero, World Tour. It was pretty awesome, and I'm looking forward to doing that more. I think, one of these days, when I've got a weekday off and I don't feel so under the weather, I'm gonna try and learn the drums. I haven't got much rhythm, but if I practice on beginner, I think I can pick it up enough that I don't so thoroughly suck. We'll see.

Not a whole lot going on right now. I toyed with the idea of going to Torchsong in Chicago, but there's no way I could justify spending that much, with travel costs and all, just for a photo and an autograph. So, I'll just keep my eyes open, and hope that an event gets planned for Dallas, or elsewhere in Texas.Plus, even if I could justify paying that much for a trip right now, I have other things that money could go to, like a car, getting my stuff from Virginia, that sort of thing.

So, really I've got nothing going on now. I've finished watching Torchwood, and have two episodes left of Doctor Who (season 2 finale, which I previously skipped), and I've downloaded Casanova, since I heard it was good. I'm also trying to get my hands on Blackpool, cause I caught a couple of episodes of that on BBC America, in Great Lakes, I think, and I liked what I saw.

Well, that's all for now, I suppose. I'm going back to bed now, cause I'm still feeling a bit off.

Lost in fantasy.

I've been marathon-watching Torchwood and Doctor who for... almost a week now. I've seen all of it, except some Doctor Who from seasons 1 and 2. Once I've caught up there, I'll start trying to track down the original series.

I'm a much bigger fan of Torchwood I think, but it's really nice watching the Doctor Who episodes in order. I've never had that opportunity before. Things make a bit more sense this way.

I think watching all this science fantasy TV is what's kept me in good spirits, the last week or so. I'm coming down a bit, and stressing slightly over work again, but it's been a nice little break from reality in the mean time. I realized yesterday that's what I was doing. Escaping from reality like I used to. This time I'm doing it through TV, rather than just daydreaming my life away. Not that it's any healthier this way, but I can recognize it.

When I was about, 8, I used to fantasize that someone would come and take me away from all the unpleasantness of life. Watching Doctor Who, is like a manifestation of that childhood daydreaming. No, I'm not the companion or anything, but it's still an escape, even if only as long as I've got more episodes to watch.

I'm out now though. I need to find a new creative something to do, to occupy myself. I'm pondering making Captain Jack's costume for Ichigo, as a cosplay. I think I have what I need to do so, and it would certainly give me something to do. Hrmmmn.

About Me

My photo
I'm Rory or Rorek in most places. I design, sew, and craft, primarily for my Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls. I also dabble in interior design, but I'm a little out of practice.

I post about the things I enjoy, which are sewing, photographing my dolls, designing new outfits, knitting, which I started in September of 2008, thanks to my Mom, and occasionally drawing, or painting.

I also post about Life Events and how they affect me and those that I love.

Currently I am living in DFW, Texas in the USA and working towards a degree in Theology.
