My favorite doll scaled prop is Ichigo's laptop. It's the perfect size to be a little netbook for an SD, or a nicely sized laptop for an MSD, and it came from a Target Our Generation doll accessory pack. I absolutely love it.

Retail stories and I hurt my hand.

So I was speaking to Osaka this evening after school, and was reminded of a funny/weird story from when I was working at Target. I was working on the Sales Floor and a customer approached me and asked "Do you carry of that faggy yogurt?"

To which I responded, "Excuse me?" and he continued, pulling out his phone and looking at a list "You know, FAGGY, F-A-G-E. The greek yogurt."

I blinked and smiled and asked "Fage? (pronounced fah-yay, as the commercials do) Yes we carry that brand." The customer visibly wilted, and looked kind of embarrassed and unsure at the same time, and he asked if I could please show him where it was, which I did.

So that happened which I was reminded of from a recent Fage commercial where they REALLY enunciated it FAH-YAY.

Then I accidentally dislocated my right thumb. I fixed it, but I didn't realize I was hyper extending it (I was trying to gently stretch it, my whole hand is/was swollen from temperature change) until I felt a weird tickle on my arm, which turned out to be my dislocated thumb. I IMMEDIATELY started massaging the joints (I'm double-jointed and used to hyper flexibility) trying to figure out which joint I had messed up, and comparing it to my left thumb, and after a moment it made an audible pop as the tendons snapped back into place, and it swelled up.

This is especially aggravating as I was already wearing my compression gloves, which I thought offered slightly more protection, but apparently they don't protect against not paying attention and dislocating your thumb because high pain tolerance meets hyper-mobility. So..

I can't take more ibuprofen yet, and iced my hand instead, which hurt like hell and I have bruises developing on the palm of my hand and also on the back of my hand where the tendons snapped back. It hurts.

I would like very much to brace or splint it to prevent further damage but I'm pretty sure an ace bandage would cause more soft tissue damage, and I don't have a wrist brace that offers thumb support where the thumb joins the hand. Cause that is the joint I dislocated. I can't recommend it.

Also I noticed that the tips of my fingers are beginning to be shaped oddly, like the joints are twisting or something. So that's something to keep an eye on..

Iplehouse SID Claude. I wanted the Elemental Guardian version, and maybe someday I might think about getting one through Doll Choice, but frankly that size is just too much doll even if the face is so perfect. So, as much as I love the doll, I will probably never follow through and get him.

Day 20: What is your dream doll?

I've gotten my dream doll, which was the Automail Edward Elric Jerome by Bluefairy. Other grail dolls were Volks Tsubaki, Volks Hewitt, Volks School C. At this point my dream dolls are dolls that were standards that have been discontinued. I want Luts type 1 Lishe, Soony, El, and Chiwoo. There are others on my wishlist of course but these would be the HOLY CRAP TAKE MY MONEY AND GIMME if I came across one in good repair. Bonus points if it has the original Luts faceup.

Day 19: A least favorite company?

This is hard. There are many companies that I don't have much interest in, but the heartbreaking least favorite used to be my absolute favorite. Custom House/Ai Dolls, which went under due to mismanagement, poor marketing, and the inability to fill orders and send out quality dolls. It was gut wrenching to see them go from being a well respected company to persona non grata in the course of about a year. I am pleased that Luts has picked up the rights to many of their sculpts and hope to some day have some of the dolls that I desperately wanted even in a slightly different form. Ultimately though Custom House is my least favorite because of the way they went down unapologetically in flames and their customer service went from steller to ignoring customer issues and then folding.

I still love my Custom House dolls, Elli, and Émile, but I also barely touch them because of my fear of damaging truly irreplaceable dolls, and the drama associated with their parent company.

Day 18: Do you have a favorite company?

Despite their US site having gone wonky, my favorite is probably Volks. They may not be the amazingly engineered Fairyland super poseable dolls, but they are sturdy, stand rock solid, and they have a pleasant heft to them. Additionally even a very loosely strung doll is capable of holding most poses because of the way Volks has designed their bodies.

The only body I really don't like is the MSD swarrico body, which Amelia has. I feel that it poses in a slightly inferior way to the standard MSD body, and what it gains in the "cute sit" ability, it loses in general poseability. I also think that Volks dolls are just plain prettier in person than they can ever be in photos. Dolls I would have never thought I would like are stunning in person, even unpainted, and that is a HUGE deal for me.

I don't have a photo of ALL the Volks dolls together but I think I have one of all the Volks MSDs including Ringo's Ken.

Day 17: What is your favorite item of dollie clothing?

It's hard to choose. Over the years I've gotten a large variety of clothes, and made all kinds of things on my own. I think my favorite articles of doll clothing are the handknit sweaters that Robbie got. He got a gorgeous chunky knit sweater from Osaka for Christmas (2015), and a beautiful brightly colored slim fit sweater from my Ravelry friend in Germany, Samseramsamsam, the second of which arrived the same day as Craig, my Souldoll Asiter. I think those are definitely my two favorite pieces in all of the doll clothes I have.

I don't think so. The Littlefees are super posable but with wigs they get top heavy, and I get nervous about them falling on their faces. Reji could probably stand on his head, as Pukis are known to be capable of posing their larger counterparts are not, but I don't think I have any photos of him doing any acrobatics or hand/headstands.

On the one hand, I have resolution which is an immense relief. On the other hand I didn't really realize how much raw emotion I have been holding back while waiting for resolution. I was perfectly calm, accepting, logical yesterday when I read the two letters from the employment commission, and then within an hour or so I promptly fell to pieces.

Triggered a migraine, cried a lot, and apologized a lot. Then I went to bed early(ish) because I just couldn't handle being awake/conscious anymore. I'm kind of here:


I had been having a mild, pleasant day. I had a peaceful morning class in psyche, attended an open mic session where my former English professor played a couple of songs, and I took some photos for him, and then I came home. Once I was.. not calm, but had the appearance of calm I threw myself into pairing down the 114 photos I had taken into seven decent photos, and sent them on to him.

I also finished sewing snaps on a t-shirt for Robbie, and I have plans of doing more sewing today. I don't want to interact with the internet. I may share photos of what I'm making Robbie if I feel up to it, but I will probably avoid the internet unless someone directly messages me or reaches out in a similar way.

I am incredibly depressed and distraught, and while nothing has changed in the grand scheme of things, I am running out of my medications, I have nothing in my bank account, and I am freaking out about how we are going to feed ourselves for the next two months.

I need to fill my script for levothyroxin 75mg daily, testosterone cyponiate 200mg vial in 10 fl oz, clonazepam 2mg daily (1mg in the morning, 1mg at night), I have about 70 doses left on my albuterol sulfate (200 metered inhalations), and I need to fill my imitrex (sumatriptan succinate 25mg) subscription, and my daily migraine medicine gabapentin (100mg, twice daily). ALL of these need filled like this week.

That adds up to about $280 in medication IF Walmart pharmacy has any discounts going on the over $100 medications. Otherwise it will be closer to $400, and we still need food. Some of these medications are roughly a month's worth. The testosterone is about 3 months worth of medication, but I just happen to have a single dose left.

I went to bed kind of hoping that I wouldn't wake up, and that is unacceptable. I just need to push through to end of May. Breathe. Keep breathing. Take medicine until it runs out and hope that I don't end up in the hospital.

Day 15: What does your family think of your dolls?

It's hard to say. I have a very large family, and some of them have BJDs as well. Others prefer to spend the cost of the BJD on other luxury items. I think the non-doll owners mostly feel that I am too old to play with toys in general. I could be wrong, but I'm not fussed either way. One of my sisters is very into them, Mom has her own and enjoys them, and I have extended family that collect and are passionate about BJDs.
