How can you be paying for school and not take it seriously?

I keep ending up seated next to people who aren't taking the class seriously and are either openly mocking the professors or just talking loudly over them. I kind of want to throat punch them.

  1. Possibly because *they* are not paying for school. People who wait for it, and work for it, enjoy it more, learn more, and are better students. I know I was a much better student when I went back to school when I was married to First Hubby and was paying for it myself, than when I wasted $2K of my parents' money as a freshman. Academic probation to Dean's List in one semester. And straight A's (or nearly so) when I went back to school when you were a sprout.

  2. I coasted through HS, got mostly A's and B's, and thought I could just coast through college as well with the same results. This, as you can imagine, did not go well at all.

I'm guessing a lot of the unpleasant classmates you have either think they can "coast," or didn't really want to go to college but Mommy and Daddy are paying for it.

I'm Rory or Rorek in most places. I design, sew, and craft, primarily for my Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls. I also dabble in interior design, but I'm a little out of practice.

I post about the things I enjoy, which are sewing, photographing my dolls, designing new outfits, knitting, which I started in September of 2008, thanks to my Mom, and occasionally drawing, or painting.

I also post about Life Events and how they affect me and those that I love.

Currently I am living in DFW, Texas in the USA and working towards a degree in Theology.
