OMNOM progress, and a teeny Batman shirt.

So last night at Knit Night, I was trying to do the teeth on the OMNOM hat and I ran into a glitch in the pattern. I just thought I was doing it wrong, but Mom tried it and she had the same problem I did. So I asked for help from Bookgrump, who recently made a Chain Chomp hat, which also has teeth. She found a discrepancy in the last two rows of the pattern and helped me figure out how to finish it off.

So, I have the OMNOM hat 95% finished. I need to add the googly eyes, and block it, and it will be all finished. I took some pictures last night, of Chris, in the hat, and matching scarf. The scarf is a stockinette pattern with a garterstitch border. :]




You can also see the tiny batman shirt, made to match my grey one. I used the tag from my older batman shirt, for the symbol on this one, since I lacked any yellow or black knit fabric. It's a little rough around the edges of the symbol, but the shirt itself is well made. :]

Commissions/Sales

I'm making doll clothes to sell again. I started up commissions last night and already have a few small orders lined up, with some repeat customers, and one new one, so far.

I also whipped up a pair of wide-leg, long legged striped trousers, in MSD size, to sell right off the bat. I want to start doing that again. I like taking commissions, but I want to be one of those people that pops a pair of pants, or a few shirts, onto the marketplace and they're snapped up within a day or two.

So these, are up for sale, on Resinality, and linked to all my doll friends, via my livejournal. I'm hoping to get a nibble in the next day or two, and send them off right away.




If no one seems interested, I'll lower the price a few dollars, in a week. They're currently up for $20 with shipping included in the US.

It's on the lower-average end of the spectrum, but I'm not gonna hike up my prices. The reason I have repeat customers, is because I make good quality clothing for reasonable prices, and I am a reliable person with good feedback in the marketplace.

I like Pink lately.

I have a pattern for a clip on tie, but I really wanted a proper tie, for Ichigo. So I looked online at how to tie a double windsor, because I wasn't sure which method I had taught myself, but it wasn't fancy looking. Turns out the method I knew was called the 4-in-hand. Simple, but not really nice looking. I found these cute illustrations when I googled 'how to tie a double windsor'. First the 4-in-hand method, and then the double windsor.




After I'd practiced it a bit on some ribbon I had handy, I realized ribbon would make an okay tie, in the right thickness, and could give me plenty of interesting patterns too. So I tied it to a length I thought was acceptable, and then snipped out a few ties from different ribbons. It doesn't have the fun thickness varient, but it looks just fine, when tucked behind a sweatervest.


I've spent most of the past day and a half, sewing. I finished up a Yo-sized blouse that I'm really not happy with still, and made for Ichigo a sleeveless button-up shirt, with real and functional buttonholes. I also made the sweatervest, in considerably less time. The collar on the button shirt was the most challenging aspect and it ended up slightly crooked but it looks okay, and isn't really obvious. You can see functional buttons below.

And now, I'm exhausted and I'm going to try and get some sleep before I get serious about packing, later today.

Shoes and stripes. :D

I was sewing most of yesterday. I whipped up this lovely striped jacket, which is finished, except for a zipper.

I made the sleeves extra long to account for future mods to Ro's arms.

I also, re-enforced the lace holes on a pair of doll sneakers. I pulled them off Ro's feet and noticed that one of the holes was almost torn through. I decided once I'd finished on shoe, to do a comparison so you could see how it looked before.


And then of course, the finished product! These shoes are bound to last a very long time now. :) Over time, I will eventually re-enforce all of my sneakers, but only once they need it.

~Pink~ Star Visor

I spent today with Christy and Rissa. It was really nice, and I had fun. We hadn't seen Rissa for awhile due, to her being busy getting ready for her baby, and trying to sell her house, before she and the hubby move to California, to his new duty station.

At one point during the day, Michael let us know that he really liked Ichigo's visor, and would like a pink one for his Ken. So when we went by the JoAnns we kept an eye out for something fun pattern-wise. After some looking we found a very cute marble print with stars, and got a little bit. Michael had asked for some glow-in-the-dark beads instead of the decorative buttons, and we ended up getting some really cute star buttons he liked as well. Below, you see the result. :3



I'm hoping to give it to him tomorrow. :3 Michael is a very sweet kid, and I'm glad to make something he'll enjoy.
