We built a Snowman!

I went back outside with Ichigo and Little Man, and together we built a snowman. We named it Bob the Third. :B Ichigo looks pleased, and Little Man and I had a BLAST building that snowman. Some jerk came and knocked it down later, but I'm told that's normal. e_e;

SNOW DAY! YAY!

It's SNOWING. When I went out, about an hour and a half ago, it was about 6 inches deep. It's still snowing hard too. 8D I'm far more excited by this, than I should be, I suspect. I took a quick pic (2 actually) with little Chris out in the snow, but realized it was too deep for a Yo to play. So I may dig out that MSD winter coat I have, and take Ichigo instead. :D

Pics or it didn't happen you say?

Pictures!

Because it's been forever and a half since ya'll've seen my ugly mug. :B Incedently, when I went to take the new photo off the camera, I saw that I NEVER PULLED CHRISTMAS PHOTOS OFF. I fail at that. Taking a page from my dear sister Nekokoi's book. :B

Anyhow, I took a pic today when I was feeling feisty. The Domo hat, was my Chistmas gift from baby sis, Moose.

And, this morning I finished up Robbie's faceup. I think he looks like a pretty good self-doll. :3 What do ya'll think?

And pictured with his son, Christopher Owen.

And back around Christmas I took this photo of Doran, that I meant to share, but never did. I love all the sparkles in his eyes. <3

I'm trying to get back into the habit of posting often again. e_e May take me awhile to get properly chatty again, so my apologies in the meantime.

Little Man cracks me up.

This verbal exchange took place within the last five minutes. I'm still quite amused. Little man is almost 8 years old, so old enough in theory to walk short distances on his own.

Christy: Spawn*!
Little man: ... What?
Christy: Come here!
*little feet come running down the hall*
Christy: Go to China Ocean and get me some soup.
Little man: ... *makes a face like he's gonna pout or cry, but can't decide which*
Christy: ... You can get yourself some noodles or something.
Little man: ... I can't. *starts to walk away*
Christy: Wait a minute! .. Why?
Little man: ... Because... Because I can't go because I'm not in my late teens, so I can't go out by myself.
*Christy and I crack up laughing, and she immediately calls her brother to share this*

*Spawn is what we collectively refer to him by, online for his safety. :]

About five minutes later:

Christy: Have you gone to China Ocean yet?
Little man: No.
Christy: Why not?
Little man: Because I told you, I'm too young.

This has continued yet. XD I love these guys.

Oho?

Why hello there internet! Surprise connection when I booted up my computer after work this afternoon. I was planning to Sim maybe, listen to some music, and on a whim checked my internet connection. BOOM. Internet. No guarentee it'll be here tomorrow but I've had fun with it this evening. I Facebooked, Ravelry-ed, checked e-mails, posted on DOA, and... that's it? OH oh, also read back dated posts on LJ.

I haven't REALLY been online since before Halloween. I think that's when the signal I was leaching off of moved away, or re-named or secured their network. Either way I was abruptly cut off from the internet. XD

In the last two months, I've been working at the Home Depot, settling in comfortably. Also, started paying brotherman back for my Narsha, Jessie. My Unicorn baby arrived as well. Bestfriend dear, Christy, ordered him for me because I was without work, and I'll be paying her back shortly. :] Pics will be forthcoming. Possibly tomorrow.

Also have Robbie (my School C head, who used to be Onigiri) on a temp body at the moment. Christy got a Leeke Richard for Christmas from her brother, and the body ended up small, scalewise, and the wrong color for her existing heads. So since she has no compatible head at the moment, she is kindly letting me have Robbie on there for now. :] I'm currently trying to set aside a little at a time for his SD10 body, while saving for Dolpa, and paying down on Jessie and Unicorn babies (the human head is a seperate entity). XD;; It's slow going, but it's going.

I've not commented much on backdated entries, but I think I'm fairly up-to-date on news, but feel free to fill me in if it's pre-Christmas news.

I got nice swag from Santa, my younger sisters, and Christy, and I took photos! But.. they're still on my camera. XD Maybe I'll do a late post tomorrow after taking new Soom baby photos. ;3

I missed you LJ! I'll try to be on more often, even if this internet fades away like before.

Our downstairs neighbors suck. Seriously. Expletives deleted.

So anyone who watches Osaka's LJ, is probably familiar with the fact that they've been mostly harmless, but obnoxious with music since they first moved in.

When I came back to Virginia, and they continued their loud music at night, (till LATE at night and not just on weekends), into the school year, I had a polite word with them. Explained that the music was loud enough to rattle our walls (directly upstairs) and even knock things off of walls, and if they could please keep the music down, or at least turn down the bass we'd appreciate it.

Their behavior last night spurred me to write this (in my head at 3:30am). I'm not sending it to them, just needed to vent.

Dearest downstairs neighbors,

I get that this is probably the first time in your life, that you have your own place, and that means you aren't necessarily familiar with apartment etiquette.

Let me clue you in. First, if a neighbor kindly alerts you to the fact that your music is loud enough to shake the walls, vibrate the floors, incite migraines, etc, common courtesy is to turn said music down. If said neighbor specifically mentions that the booming bass is the problem, tweak your settings or invest in good headphones.

If the above neighbor needs to knock on your door regarding this more than once a week, or there is a definitive pattern, you may need to re-think your living situation.

You see, there are laws about noise violations. On schoolnights, or weeknights, in most places, it's 10pm or later. On weekends, it's midnight, I believe.

If said cranky (and increasingly so) but polite neighbor mentions they have to go to work in 5 hours, turning your music BACK UP in 3 hours after their Nyquil wears off, is not the correct response. It was 3:30am, and I was woken from a dead sleep.

It's too cold to throw on clothes and storm downstairs and your music is too loud to ignore. So I did the less polite stomping on my floor-your ceiling. You turned the music UP. I did it again with more authority, bruising my left heel in the process. You finally turned it off.

SCREW YOU. Your passive aggressive game makes me very angry, and I know I'm not the only one who has complained to you, and to the office. I can't be. You have other neighbors with school aged children, some of whom also work early on the weekends.

This is not appropriate social behavior, and especially inappropriate for apartment life. I hope you're evicted.

~Sincerely upstairs *neighbor.

*The short fat one, who always looks angry, cause she has to come pound on your door at 3am to get you to turn your damned music down. AGAIN.

So all said and done, the downstairs neighbors are young men in their early twenties, probably navy boys who play bass heavy music WAY too loud at all hours of the day and night. We mostly ignore it during the day unless we have migraines already. But at night? Osaka's boy has school, and I have work. Seriously not cool.

Is.. is it really over? o_o

Well today has been interesting. This morning Christy told me she needed to get out of the house, so I got up and came out with her.

We poked about a little, looking at cats at Petsmart, and then looking around A C Moore (local craft store). I had a weird, mild allergy fit in there, and when I went to the restroom to wash my hands and face, Rissa called, and at the same time I got a text message.

The text said "Just wanted to let you know that nick got the divorce finalized for you guys! You're officially divorced now..." and it was from a local number I didn't recognize.

I sent back "Who is this?" Received, "Ti Chan" Sent back "How was he able to do that? I've been waiting to hear back from his lawyer."

She sent back "They went in front of court. It was a default divorce because theyve been trying to serve you since before they left."

I sent back "Will they send me papers? I contacted the lawyers when I received ve-" and then got sick of trying to text back and forth and called.

It was indeed Brittany. I clarified that I'd been waiting to hear back from his laywer, and she told me that his lawyer was kind of a bum who didn't contact people back. I'd suspected that the Navy had finally tracked Nick down or something, which is not the case.

So I am (allegedly) divorced now, and he took responsiblity for the debts accrued during the marriage, which makes things a little bit easier for me.

I'm skeptical yet, but I don't think she'd necessarily text me out of the blue like that if there wasn't SOMETHING up. I've not been in contact with her or Nick since July when he last texted me that there would be no money becuase he fled the Navy.

I never told anyone except for Christy, because it was so weird and surreal. He up and went AWOL on June 14th, 4 days before I came back to Virginia. AWOL of course meaning "Absent without Leave" and being quite literal in this case. The three of them up and moved one day, sneaking out on rent etc, and going to live with Nick's family in McAllen.

On top of all that excitement, Rissa is having to deal with something weird and awful, that is not mine to share, but she's been having a hard time of it. So, it's been a WEIRD past few days. e_e;;

Elli Photos

So because I've been working on Elli's lifestory, I decided to take some photos of his doll form. I took a bunch outside cause it's a nice cold grey day, and also raining which sets the mood very well. So, here are the ones I liked best.

Also, un-related to photos or writing or anything of that sort, I've been uncharacteristically impatient today. I'm trying not to be cranky cause I really don't have any good reason to be, but I'm finding myself getting annoyed about stuff that shouldn't bother me.

Like when someone knocked at the door, while Christy was trying to take a nap, and the dog got riled up and barking like crazy, and the kid was skitzy cause it startled him, etc. I was really very annoyed at the people on the other side of the door, even though there was no way they could have known how inconvenient surprise visits are. I'm trying to keep things quiet and peaceful and it gets very loud very suddenly, and takes me quite a bit to get the kid and the dog settled down again. }:[

My brown and green scarf, and Ichigo pics.

First, a photo of me with my new scarf. It took me about a week to knit it, all said and done. I started it back in January but I kept screwing up the striping, so I decided since it was self-striping yarn, I'd just go with it.

I wish it was a little longer but it's a pretty good length. It just doesn't hang as low as I'd like. It's made from a yarn that's about %50 wool and %50 silk. :] Pretty soft, and doesn't feel scratchy like some wool can.

Photobucket

Second, it came to my attention that no one really posts doll photos anymore. Too true. Most of my friendslist are doll people and very few of them post photos, let alone TALK about dolls on their LJs anymore. I'm not complaining mind you because I like hearing the day to day stuff too.

Anyway, here are 17 photos of Ichigo. I made the net shirt and pink vinyl shorts yesterday (I think, might have been the night before) and have had the white tank top for awhile. :]

I apologize that some of the photos are repative but I liked these all too well not to share them. :]

Working at Home Depot plus a meme.

So today I went to the Home Depot and filled out my employment paperwork. I go back for real orientation and the beginning of my training Monday 8am to 5pm. I was there for about two hours today, as we also did a store walk through. There were supposed to be five new cashiers including myself, but only three of us showed up.

I learned that I can get benefits even though I'll just be part time, which is GREAT news. And, I they also offer tuition reimbursement so that will help when I start college.

I was VERY nervous, but they seem quite friendly, and genuinely so, and it seems to be a similar atmosphere to the Walmart I worked at, which was very pleasant. And if I have the same anxiety attacks I have Christy here to help me through that, so I'll be able to work past them. Best friends are awesome like that.

I did have alot of irrational fear, like maybe I misunderstood and they really didn't want to hire me, or that they wanted me to come in so they could tell me I was a bad person. I realize it's COMPLETELY irrational, but I tend to fret and worry even when it doesn't make any sense.

So that's that. As of October 29th, 2009, I am employed by the Home Depot as a part time cashier. It may not be the most impressive of jobs, but I think it's one I can manage, and it will allow me the freedom to do school as well, so I can get started on the track of becoming a High School History Teacher. :]

And unre-lated here is the OTHER doll meme that's been going 'round.

Name one (or as many as you like) of my characters you'd like to know how he/she was like as a child and I'll tell you. If the character has no background that detailed, I'll make something up on the spot.

You don't have to pick just from the dolls I own, if you're familiar with some of my other characters. :]

About Me

My photo
I'm Rory or Rorek in most places. I design, sew, and craft, primarily for my Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls. I also dabble in interior design, but I'm a little out of practice.

I post about the things I enjoy, which are sewing, photographing my dolls, designing new outfits, knitting, which I started in September of 2008, thanks to my Mom, and occasionally drawing, or painting.

I also post about Life Events and how they affect me and those that I love.

Currently I am living in DFW, Texas in the USA and working towards a degree in Theology.
